Orion’s Quality Department is based in Shediac, New Brunswick, the “Lobster Capital of the World” and the source of over 90% of the Canadian lobster that is processed and shipped to markets in the United States and around the world.

All of our products’ processing facilities are federally registered and HACCAP approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, and/or regulated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), and operate under the mandatory Quality Management Program.

Further, the plants strictly adhere to comprehensive sanitation operating, control, and monitoring procedures that are at least equivalent to the requirements outlined in Section 123.11 of this Part. The processing facilities also operate under good manufacturing processes in manufacturing, packing, or holding human food which include buildings, facilities, and equipment design and contstruction, production and process controls that are at least equivalent to section 110 of this part. Facilities are also certified under the Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) As required for products shipped into the U.S., each product produced for Orion Seafood is guaranteed to be: (1) not adulterated or misbranded within the meaning of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 USC Sec. 301, et seq.); (2) in compliance with all applicable federal laws; and (3) is free from chemical contamination, pesticides, drug residues, natural toxins or microbiological contamination. Further, all packaging materials shall be safe for the intended use and will not cause adulterations of edible products.

In addition, their operations, premises, products and documentation are monitored and inspected by the Orion Quality Department.
